Change – what a peaceful word compared to the maelstrom in which we find ourselves. For those born with the firm conviction that being in control is the essence of a well-ordered life, personally and professionally, the times are especially difficult. Plague, wildfires, catastrophic storms, political upheaval, and not to mention the threat to democracy here in the USA and around the world – challenge that conviction quite radically. Suddenly it seems our world is out of whack. Or is it? Could it be that the world is as it always was, but our conviction is in error? Put more directly: Control as we have imagined it never was and never will be. If so, we need another skill set. I call that learning to Dance with Shiva.
