Corporates seek to combine lean startup, agile and design thinking
Rotterdam will host the next European Lean Innovation Summit, also known as “the best innovation training for teams.” With topics covering design thinking, agile and lean startups, the content has grown with the audience. The European Lean Innovation Summit will receive a huge boost in innovation itself this year, including hosting its 2019 event in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, changing its name, and expanding its topics to cover the wide spectrum of design thinking, agile and lean startup subjects.
The widening of its focus has been the result of the huge interest in and adaption of canvas methodology and lean startup thinking across industries and organizations. Since its inception, the Lean Innovation Summit event series has attracted an increasing number of SMEs and corporates in addition to start- and scale-ups that it was originally created to serve.
Thijs Sprangers, initiator of Lean Innovation Series: “Over the past five years we’ve been organising these events, we’ve seen bigger and bigger companies in attendance and the topic lists have become wider. Next to lean startup basics, we are now covering topics like agile transformation, the culture of entrepreneurship and experimentation at scale. The majority of European corporates and SME’s are only at the beginning of learning how to do both effective execution and continuous innovation really well – and this is the perfect way for them, as well as startups, to learn the latest methods and trends.”
The event series has recently been acquired by Emerce, organiser of 30+ annual industry events and owner of an online news channel for e-commerce, digital marketing and innovation in The Netherlands. The series was pioneered by Live on Demand, the startup that once crowdfunded Eric Ries for one of the first lean startup events in Europe, organised over 50 meetups and 5 innovation summits in 23 cities since 2015. Live on Demand’s core team will stay involved in programming and partnerships to help ensure the continued success of the events.
Gijs Vroom, founder of Emerce: “We’re looking forward to supporting the European innovation community with the lean innovation event series. We will work hard on building a great network of innovative entrepreneurs and corporates, and connecting the ecosystem”.
The new European Lean Innovation Summit is scheduled for November 12 in Rotterdam. In addition to thought leaders like Alexander Osterwalder (inventor of the business model canvas and #7 on the Thinkers50 list of most influential innovation thinkers), speakers from ING and Delivery Hero will discuss Lean Startup, Agile and Design Thinking in their organisations. The next meetups will be organized in London, Stockholm, Berlin, Amsterdam and Rotterdam.
The event is organised in partnership with City of Rotterdam, Wework, Strategyzer, OneUp and PA Consulting.
