Finally, Web Summit was in-person again in Lisbon. The Web Summit is definitely one of the biggest tech-summit in the world. We had an opportunity to be part of this big event, and listen to the biggest influencers from today’s business.

Why is Web Summit so important not only for the tech world but also for so many different topics.

Without further explanation, let’s numbers speak instead.

42,751 attendees

This event was the first in-person tech event in Lisbon for two years will attract more than 42,000 people for an experience like no other.

There’s a reason that Inc. called Web Summit “an exciting event with a global reach”. People from 128 countries made the journey to Lisbon this year, connecting, networking, and learning from the Web Summit content and from experienced attendees.

50.5 percent women

Organizers are committed to changing the gender ratio at the events, to hopefully see more women entrepreneurs and developers represented at the highest levels of tech. This year, they’re happy to announce that, for the first time at their events, more than half of our attendees are women.

Still, the organizers aim to improve on this figure again in 2022.

The organizers of the Web Summit assembled a mix of world leaders, entrepreneurs, executives, tech developers, sports stars, musicians and actors who are impacting their fields and who have unique insights to share. We had an opportunity to listen to Amy Poehler, Sir Tim Berners-Lee, Samuel Eto’o, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa and Justin Winters, to name just a few of our speakers.

From bootstrapped young companies to unicorns in the making, we could find every industry represented in our network of 1,519 startups. We could meet with the next generation of entrepreneurs out on the exhibition floor, see what advice investors are offering in investor-to-start up meetings or see who can out-pitch them all during the PITCH startup competition.

872 investors

Entrepreneur called Web Summit “one of the most highly regarded gathering places for startups, corporations and investors”. This year, we had 872 VCs, angel investors and major funds joining us. Among them are Seedcamp’s Reshma Sohoni, Accel’s Philippe Botteri, Cleo Capital’s Sarah Kunst, and LG Technology Ventures’ Dong-Su Kim.

1,878 members of the media

Whether they’re moderating talks, interviewing speakers, or breaking the big stories, journalists are an important part of making the Web Summit event globally recognized.
